Calabash nutmeg scientifically known as Monodora Myristica traditionally is used in stews, and soups. Calabash nutmeg also known as Ehuru in Nigeria, Wedeɛ aba in Ghana, and Jamaican Nutmeg to name a few.

 

The smell and taste of Calabash nutmeg is somewhat similar to the common variety, though it perhaps has a deeper woodiness, and its flavour is intensified when toasted,  is used for general baking were a recipe requires nutmeg

 

Calabash is said to have many medicinal properties ranging from relieving constipation to repelling insects
